Glynda

So here it is, I guess.

After a long and circuitous journey of finding my way, sometimes stumbling and falling to get here, I find myself in my own little shop by the sea.

Ever since I was a wee girl, art (okay...and shopping) has always been my passion. Although I didn't really know it until recently.

I began this journey over 20 years ago as a singer and songwriter. My love of writing music and of music period, has to my surprise, only grown bigger as I've gotten older and I continue to fill my life and the lives of my children with music, new & old.

A few years later, the promise of a "real" job and the promise of "real" money led me to the film business, where I worked for many years as a Script Supervisor in Film & Television.

Then there were the babies. Three of them to be exact. All in a row. When these babes were young, I drew my first collection of cards. Then this cool thing called Photoshop entered my life...and well, life changed. I ended up designing a line of almost 400 greeting cards, which sold in Canada & the U.S.

While I still loved the intricacy of drawing with a mouse, I yearned to just let it all hang out, creatively that is, and to experience a more physical, tactile and larger medium. (coincidentally, this desire to become more physical in my art, came at a time in my life when I started to run long distances and push myself physically in ways I never had before.....funny, huh?)

My paintings are inspired by all things in nature, by places travelled in reality.....or sometimes in my mind. I like to let my imagination take me somewhere I don't expect. To me that's the joy in it.

Okay, about the shopping thing: I Love to treasure-hunt. I always have.

It all started when I was about 10 and mom would take my sister & I down to Bellingham for the big trip to KMart....Now that was FUN! I like to think that I've grown a bit since the KMart days and that my tastes have become a tad bit more refined (but not too much!).

I love beautiful things. I just have an issue with paying ridiculous prices for them. Finding treasures for me is up there with creating things.

On another note, one of the things that opening this store has provided me with is an opportunity to possibly lend a voice in my community, even if on a small level, in the hopes that I can create awareness, whether it be about the importance of health & fitness, or the bigger issues that affect us all on a global level, both enviromentally and socially......with the ultimate goal of making even small changes....and helping others.

This store is a culmination of my love of creating Art, whether it be on a 6x6 inch card or an 8x4 foot canvas...

and my love of finding cool things from around the world....or from the people in my community.

I can't think of anything more fun than that.

And my hope is that in my little shop by the sea..........there's something for everyone that will make them happy!

(hey.....that rhymes)

See you soon,

Glynda
